From the President --

Welcome to the new HEAT website.  We have tried to include as much information as possible in this website so that homeschooling families will have a centralized place to post information that can be easily accessed by others within our community.  So, whether you need information on co-op meetings, sports schedules or other homeschool events, we hope that we can provide the most up-to-date information possible.

Anyone who has ever homeschooled knows that it is not an easy job.  It is our desire at HEAT to do whatever we can to support and encourage homeschooling parents and children so that they can truly enjoy and be successful in their homeschooling adventure.  If you have homeschooled for many years or are just considering it for the first time, we want to provide you with the information and the resources you need to be successful.

May God bless you as you educate your children.  Please let us know if we can help.

James Frank
HEAT Board President
WELCOME!

Are you new to home schooling? Or maybe just new to the Wichita Falls Area?   We've all been new at some point in our lives. Meeting new people is sometimes difficult, but the rewards of finding a support group in this wonderful journey of educating our children are worth it.  Come join us. Check out the calendar of events for upcoming activities.

Homeschool families in the Texoma Area are awesome!  We work together to support each other in our efforts to homeschool, and we welcome you to join in the fun! There are lots of exciting classes, clubs, sports and opportunities for our students to learn cool stuff and meet friends while parents meet and support one another.

The local homeschool support group, which has been active in Texoma for many years, is Home Educators Around Texoma (H.E.A.T.).

For the past few years, the main sources of information regarding activities for our home school community have been the H.E.A.T web site and the private Yahoo Groups.  We hope that you will utilize both! (See the About Us page for a letter from the H.E.A.T. President, James Frank.)

The Yahoo Groups for homeschool families in Texoma are extremely helpful and offer timely information in forums that also allow members to ask advice on a variety of topics and to share encouragement. There are two general info groups:  the main Group and Just the Facts.  We have special Yahoo Groups for many of the clubs to help club members keep up with club events.  For activities like our Book Clubs, Explorers 4-H, MARS Robotics, and Actors Creating Together (ACT) you need to join the Yahoo Group to find out when & where the groups meet.  To help assure safety, these groups are for members only and cannot be seen by the general public.   If you have a student graduating, please join the Graduation Group.  We also have Yahoo Groups for Volleyball players and the High School Classes.  (Information about all the Yahoo Groups can be found on the Point of Contacts Page.)

The H.E.A.T web site is beneficial in that it can be seen by those considering homeschooling, those new to the area, and us old-timers as well.    We try to keep it up-to-date with information regarding events and activities happening within our homeschool community.  On this site you will find helpful articles, information about various clubs and classes, curriculum information, field trip ideas, and even help with understanding standardized tests!

Welcome! Feel free to look around. Enjoy!
