SWIM TEAM
The Wichita Falls Elite Swim Team (WEST) is currently the only swim team in the Wichita Falls area.
If your child is interested in swimming for fitness, or interested in competing in USA Swimming swim meets, the WEST team is the place to be.
During the school year we practice Monday - Friday evenings at the downtown Boys and Girls Club pool.
If you are interested in trying it out, please check out our website at: http://www.wichitafallsswimming.com/ and contact us via the website. Or, email Ann Porter at porterave@nts-online.net
New swimmers can come for two nights for free to 'check out' swim team.
PE CLASSES
(Scroll down for class schedule. For more information about what is coming up the next few months, click here.)
Gymnastics
Gymnastics is a favorite PE activity led by the Bartley YMCA Staff, who follow the guidelines of the USAG Developmental Program. They will evaluate your child’s progress & move him/her to the next level when they have successfully completed all requirements. Children may learn skills on the bars, beam, floor & trampoline.
Akido
Robert "Bob" Puder will be returning to continue teaching the ancient martial art of Akido. Bob will help everyone learn self-defense confidence. Ask the front desk where Bob's class is meeting.
Click here for a PE Registration Form. You need to complete one form per family at the beginning of each month when you pay for that month's classes.
Payment due by 1st class session each month

TENNIS!
Thank you Louise Early for volunteering to Coordinate this class!
Thank you all for your interest in starting a Homeschool Tennis Class. I met with Mr. Bobby Hagerman at the Weeks Park Tennis Center today and am now even more excited about this opportunity!
Here are the details for our class:
Class Days: Monday and Thursday
Time: 2-3 PM (please let me know if this is a bad time as we have some flexibility)
Location: Weeks Park Tennis Center, 4101 Weeks Park Drive, WF 76308
Cost: $65 for 8 lessons (4 weeks, twice a week)
Start Date: Monday, 14 September 2009
Note: The first several lessons are fundamentally important as the basics of tennis terminology and safety will be taught. It is important for as many students as possible (all, hopefully) to be present for these first lessons. Please tell me if your child/children cannot attend 14, 17, 21, and 24 September.
What is included in the cost:
- all court fees ($45 annual for 18 and under or $1.50 for daily use = $12 of cost that goes to the municipality to maintain and provide utilities for the courts and facilities)
- a tennis racket (YES, each student will be sized for a new racket, a NICE new racket! If your child already has a racket, please bring it for evaluation. If it is a right fit, you will be given a new racket to "grow into" or one for a sibling)
- practice balls to take home
Class Policies:
- If you have a PLANNED ABSENCE, please notify the tennis center at least three (3) days in advance. Mr. Hagerman will make a schedule based on planned attendance and have ready any additional instructors necessary. If there are over 6 students, they have an additional instructor. A couple families indicated that they would be away for this or that month. That is fine, your lessons will be waiting for you when you return.
- If you have an UNPLANNED ABSENCE, please notify the tennis center. If it is after the 3-day window, and arrangements for an additional instructor have already been made, it will not be possible to post-pone that lesson (it will be counted as one of your 8 paid lessons). This is the only fair way plan for the right number of instructors for the whole class.
- If you opt to purchase an Annual Tennis Permit (Family = $120, Student (under 18) = $45), that cost will be deducted from your class cost. It is up to you if you want to utilize the court at additional times.
- There is only one ingress and egress point for the Center and the front desk is manned. Consequently, you may drop off your child and go. There is an indoor waiting area with comfortable chairs and several tables and a large viewing window, should you wish to stay.

Did you know we have a Wichita Falls Home School High School Boys Basketball Team?
Well, we do! And they are fun to watch!
Ken Thomason did a great job coaching this year. We are ahving a banquet on March 5 to celebrate our season!
The home school team is a very competitive team; they work hard in practice and travel to surrounding towns for games. Team members are expected to be at all practices and games. They play games against area schools and participate in tournaments. Some of the tournaments scheduled so far include the Fantasy of Lights in November and both the Vernon & Windthorst tournaments in December. There is a Homeschool Tournament in the Dallas area in mid-February. On game days, the team may have more than one game.
The contact person is Ken Thomason - alayne62@yahoo.com. If you are interested in playing, please let Ken know ASAP.
Class Schedule
Contact the YMCA for the class schedule
Cost per Class:
# OF
CHILDREN
MEMBER
NON MEMBER
5 or more $11.40 ea.
$12.20 ea
For example, if you are a YMCA member and have 2 children each taking both PE and Gymnastics, you would pay $11.50 X 4 classes or $46 for that month.
BOWLING LESSONS!
Village Bowl is offering bowling classes to homeschoolers starting in October!
Classes will be one hour & fifteen minutes long and will be held on Tuesdays.
Class starts at 3:00
That gives 15 minutes in between the two classes. 1hr and 15min should be long enough to get 2 games in, although that would depend on the amount of time given to instruction.
The cost is $20/month. This figure based on $5/Wk for 1hr and 15min bowling (no limit to # of games in that time) with instruction and free shoe rentals. Of course, if there are more than 4 Tuesdays in a month, the price will remain at $20/month for your benefit and to keep things simple.
Contact Necia Myers if you are interested in these classes.
