Code of Conduct
In order to insure that everyone knows what will be permitted and discouraged, we have included behavior, etiquette, and dress code rules. Failure to comply with the following may result in expulsion from the Prom.
No PDA (Public Display of Affection)
Kissing
Caressing or extended embracing
Girls sitting on boy's laps or vice versa
Proper Dance etiquette and behavior require that there is NO:
Body against body
Groping
Provocative Movements/Dirty Dancing
No leaving the premises
If you need something from your vehicle a chaperone will escort you.
No in and out. You will be checked out once you leave the Prom. You will not be allowed to return.
No wandering around the building
Dress Code
Ladies
Modest and becoming gowns.
Short dresses and slits must be 1 in above knees
Spaghetti straps and strapless gowns are permitted, however no plunging necklines and no visible cleavage.
Undergarments must be worn under gown.
No side or front cut-outs in dresses.
The gown's back may not be lower than the smallest portion of the natural waist line.
No see through gowns are permitted.
Please use your utmost discretion when selecting a gown to assure that it is tasteful and above reproach.
Note about dresses: For your benefit, please make sure that your dress stays "secure" when you jump up and down, wiggle, or any other dance move. Over the years we have watched our young ladies struggle to keep their dresses "in place" while trying to dance. You will have a much more enjoyable evening if you are not fighting your dress all night.
Gentleman
Tuxedo or Dress Suit (A Dress Suit or Tuxedo is defined as matching pants and jacket. Black jeans and/or sports coats are not acceptable formal attire)
Neck ties, Bow Ties, or Bola are required
A collared, button up shirt is required (no t-shirts)
All Attendees:
No Tennis Shoes or flip flop or Crocs
Dress Code will be strictly enforced
DRESS CODE WILL BE ADHERED TO STRICTLY
It is uncomfortable for the Chaperones to ask our young ladies to accompany them to the restroom to correct dresses outside of the dress code, however they will do just that. Please make sure that you are within the above guidelines. (If in doubt, err on the side of the conservative.)
Guidelines
Homeschoolers
Attendees must be 14 and also be enrolled in the 9th grade.
Guests
Each homeschooler may invite ONE GUEST.
Who is considered a GUEST?
For registration purposes, we consider only those who are NOT homeschooled as “guests”.
Others (public schooled)
What are the age guidelines for non-homeschooled GUESTS?
The guest must be at least 14 years old and also in 9th grade.
The guest must not exceed the age of 20
Guest does not mean date. You are more than welcome to go stag.
HOME SCHOOL PROM 2010
Dawn Latour, Necia Myers, Karen Allen, and Thaynn Summerlin are the Prom Committe
Our high school prom, for our homeschoolers around the area, in the 9th-12th grades, ages 14 and up, will be Saturday, May 8, at the Wichita Club. Our homeschoolers will be allowed to bring a guest, as long as the guest is still in high school. Each guest and homeschooler will be required to buy a ticket for entrance to the prom.
The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Parents are invited to come up, take photos, and visit until 6:30. Our banquet will be from 6:30-7:30, and a dance will start at 8:00 and end at 10:00. We will have a DJ that will be playing an assortment of music - big band, country, Christian rock, and some classic rock. At a later date, all prom-goers will be invited to submit titles of any songs they would like played at the prom. All music played will be approved by a committee.
Girls, please don't buy your dresses yet. There will be a dress code that must be followed. Please give us a little time to get this put together and put on the loop before you go dress-shopping.
We are estimating that the cost per ticket will be $50. It will NOT be any more than this, and depending on our turn-out, what is spent on decorations, and the number of sponsors we get, we may be able to lower this price. Please know we are doing everything we can to make this as affordable as we possibly can.
Karen Allen and Necia Myers are in charge of the theme and decorations. Stephanie Frye is in change of finding some sponsors to help us defray the cost. If you are interested in helping in any of these areas, please contact these awesome gals.
There will be many, many opportunities to help with this event. We will need help planning some activities for those who are non-dancers. We are planning on putting together gift bags for those attending. I, or one of the committee chairpeople, will post as these come up.
I hope you are as excited about this as I am. I think this will be a wonderful time for our high schoolers and will be a part of their cherished memories for years to come.
Thanks so much for your interest - Dawn
